SEO Your Own Website With These Simple Yet Highly Effective Tips

If you’re a business owner, no doubt you already understand how getting your website ranked highly on the Google search results can seriously drive heaps of high targeted customers (potential buyers) to your business.

There are basically 2 ways of getting your website to appear in the top ten search results of the search engine rankings; if you are dead serious and just want the job done properly and fast, you could simply get it done by the pro’s over at Dubai Website SEO, the second option would be to make a few simple changes yourself which would have an almost immediate affect on the overall rankings of your site on the search engine results.

SEO is a science and to really do it properly, yes, you would be wise to hire an expert however, there are 3 very simple things I recommend you do as soon as possible that (if done correctly) will dramatically improve the overall ranking of your website in the search engine results:

Step 1: Keyword & Key Phrase Research

The first step is probably the most critical of them all, try to imagine someone looking for the products or services you offer on your website and then try to picture the key phrases they would be most likely to type into the search bar of Google. Keywords can be singular (e.g. Dubai), however, a singular keyword is not recommended for seo because a) the competition is usually very high and b) multiple key phrases are generally more specific to the product or service people are looking for. A two phrase keyword could be something like (Dubai Websiteand a 3 phrase keyword would be (Dubai Website SEO),and so on. For the best SEO strategies, its generally best to stick to the 2 & 3 word phrases and not exceed 4 words.

First thing to do is write down as many different keywords as you can. Think of the most obvious first and then the variations to those. Also, if applicable, try to incorporate geo-specific words (e.g “seo experts in dubai”). If you have trouble getting the keywords flowing, try getting some ideas from your competitors’ by checking the prominent keywords they seem to be optimizing for on their websites. Do your best to come up with as many keywords as you can that are of relevance to the theme of your site and related to what it is you are promoting on it.

The next thing to do is shortlist the winners; narrow your list down to 2 sets of keywords that you think would be most likely to be used the most by people searching for your products or services. Just remember though that the more competion there is for one of your keywords, the harder it is going to be to get your site highly ranked for those particular words in the search engines. Think of it this way, if you were trying to promote your website for the key words “used cars”, then your chances of getting your website ranked highly in the search engines would be a lot more difficult than if you were using the phrase “used cars in Dubai”. If this all sounds like a lot of work you are right because it is but the rewards you will get from having your website ranked high up in the search engine results make it all seem well and truly worth it.

There are tons of keyword research tools available for you to use which really make life easier during this important process in the seo process and one that I highly recommend is the Google keyword tool which is free and can easily be accessed from the main dashboard of your Google account (assuming you have a Gmail account).

After you have selected your two best keyword phrases the next thing to do is to implement these keywords into your homepage.

Step 2: Placing Your Keywords Into The Webpage Content

You’ve probably heard the phrase ‘content is king’ around the place. It refers to the fact that search engines (especially Google) just love fresh, unique web content. This is why it’s absolutely essential that when you place your keywords throughout the content of the page you are trying to optimize that you follow certain guidelines. Your keywords need to be placed carefully and strategically so that they flow with the rest of the content and are relevant to the topic of the page. Just be a little mindful not to go too over the top when you are inserting your keywords because if it starts to look a little silly or (unnatural), the Googlebot spiders could remove your site from the search results pages all together.

It’s a good idea to ask another “human” to read your content before you officially publish it and provide you with unbiased feedback as to whether it looks natural to them. If a Human Being likes what you have written, there’s about a 99.99% chance that the search engine spiders will like it too.

Use the following as a guide when adding your main keywords to the page you are optimizing for SEO:

1. Use your keywords in headings and as close to the beginning as you can i.e. (Dubai Website SEO Services)

2. Use your keywords near the beginning of the main content and use them as often as you can throughout

3. Use bold or italic keywords where it would appear appropriate

4. Use your main keywords for hyperlinks to other pages i.e. “Find more information about Dubai Website SEO Services”.

Something else you should do is to include your main keywords in the title tag of the header tag. This is not hard to do (especially if you are familiar with using WordPress) but if you’re not sure just hit Youtube for some “how to” videos on what steps to take with your particular content management system.

Once you have carefully placed your keywords throughout your home page, it would be even more beneficial to consider adding some new content. You could just extend on the content that’s already there or ad something extra like FAQ’s or perhaps a review about one of the products or services you offer.

Something else to keep in mind is that search engine spiders can only read text, but not images. Many website creators spend a great deal of time (and money) incorporating lots of graphics, flash banners, etc into the home page of websites to make them as attractive as possible. There’s no denying that these hi-tech enhancements really help to build a fantastic looking website, however they (unfortunately) do nothing in terms of best seo practices.

Step 3: Building One Way Links To Your Site

Every link from another website to your site is considered by search engines as a vote of popularity for your business and will essentially improve your rankings in the search engine results pages.

Don’t believe anyone who tells you to go for one of these link building services because, frankly, you might as well flush your money down the toilet since it’s likely that more than 90% of the sites and link registrars they submit to will either a) never get accepted or b) will never get picked up by the search engine spiders. You see, the content of the websites that have links to yours should be relevant to the topic of your site. Having links from relevant sites is extremely powerful in terms of seo and for doing so, you will be rewarded big time by Google and all the search engines for that matter.

Imagine walking into a car dealership to look at a car and there were signs everywhere advertising for children’s clothing…that would really not seem relevant to the products you were looking for in the first place would it? Exactly, and the same thing applies to search engine optomization.

Take some time to research all the relevant websites that could possibly link to you, such as non-competing sites or industry bodies and organisations or even somebody’s blog with similar content. After you have compiled a list of potential sites for getting links from, simply visit each site then get their contact details and either call them personally or send a friendly little email explaining what your site is about and then ask them if they wouldn’t mind placing a link to your site on theirs. Ok, let’s not kid ourselves here, most website owners will simply ignore a request like that from a total stranger but if you persist, you will eventually get someone to agree and when they do, just remember how incredibly powerful that one “relevant” back link is in the eyes of Google!

You can then monitor your rankings in Google (and the other search engines) over the next few months by simply typing your chosen keywords into the search box of the browser and keep a record the rankings. When you do this, remember to clear your browser cache so as to get a true ranking position and you would also be wise to hook up Google analytics to your site too so that you can check to see what keywords people are typing into the Google search to get to your site. If you are seeing that people are coming to your site for keyword phrases other that what you have optimized the site for, it’s actually good news because you can use those keywords for separate pages within the site.

To set up Google Analytics on your site, all you need to do sign up through the main dashboard of your Google account as I mentioned above for the keyword tool.

Then just keep up with the link building and regularly ad fresh content to the pages every time you get the chance.

Once you have done all of the above, you’ll start to see a significant change in the placement of your website in the search engine results pages along with a huge increase in visitors who will (hopefully) turn into new customers for your business whether it be a bricks and mortar business or an online one. And last but certainly not least, just make sure to keep a diary of any modifications you make to your site in case you do something that knocks you off your perch in the Google search results, then you can just change things back to the way they were to fix it and get your site back to the position it was before you made the changes.

Now you have the knowledge, its time for some seo action!
