Copywriting and Bullet Points for The Novice

When you are writing sales copy, there are quite a few important items you have to keep in mind. That’s right; the foundation of your sales letter is the flow that you create, and without this flow your copy will break down. Of course there are established conventions used with copywriting that serve many purposes. Creating effective bullet points is almost an art form, and they do have a big job in your copy. The article below talks about a few useful tips to help you write bullet points the right way.

It is usually best to avoid bullet tricks such as when the first word is identical in every bullet. Avoid writing similar leading copy, or text or words, at the beginning of them. Remember that every bullet point that you include in your copy has some role to play which is why you should keep them different in every way. Plus there always the danger of boring the reader, and that is one thing you must never do. So just write each bullet by itself and make them unique in all ways.

Remember that bold is fine, and what looks good is to only use it with an important phrase. The one thing to be avoided at all costs is the busy sales letter because you have done too much to the text. However, if you’ve got a list of lots of bullet points then this probably may not be a good idea. The best thing is to totally forget about all these text effects because that part is really secondary to the copy itself. As a copywriter, you should learn to think out of the box because the more unique your copy looks and feels, the better results you can expect from it.

Lastly, keep your bullet points under control, and don’t have multiple pages of bullet points listed out – that’s definitely a turn off. They can seem like a small part of the copy, but they are critically important. All products have features that are not as appealing to the reader, so do not include them. If you think you have a lot of bullets, then that is fine just as long as you present them properly. Once you are finished, then make very sure they are concise with no unnecessary words that do not belong.

Creating sales copy with impact is about getting every single element in place. Sometimes very good bullet points will tip the scales in your favor as long as your offer is sound. As we always tell people, you can gain a lot by learning from the master copywriters. Everything in copywriting has to be tackled in parallel so your entire letter will improve. Take action if you want to learn how to write bullets as well as copy, in general.
